These puppies and their power to heal someone of their fear of dogs, remind me of my Casey. During the time I got to spend with her, I witnessed her helping to overcome 2 people from their fear of dogs. Especially, pit-bull looking big black dogs, like her :-)

She was the most unattractive looking dog in the pound. Among all other tinier and more brighter furred and more attractive ones, but... with most of them constantly jumping, yepping, barking dogs... she was the most quite. Although nervous she was from the dogs being so laud and noisy... she was looking to the cages on her left and right and was trying to understand what the heck was going on... You could clearly see on her face, the dominant pit-bull features in her mix. On her official paper it read she was classified as a “Lab Mix”... The only resemblance with a Black Lab she could have, was her fur coloring. And nothing else. She did not liked to go into the water at lakes or beaches like labs. Maybe only her paws could be in the water and nothing higher than that. And possibly not all 4... Only her front 2 paws :-) That’s the level of love she had for “enjoying to be in the water”... She didn’t like to take bath either... but I guess a lot of dogs do the same, too.

And another “not common trade” she had with labs was about “retrieving toys” :-) She did not retrieve toys back! Maybe 1 time her, 2 times there ... but, it was boring to her. She would go get it and play with it herself by throwing it in the air and catching it back again or sometimes she would “ask” me with her body language to chase her for the toy!
Upon the persistent request of my significant other, “we” had decided to get a dog. So it was him who was super exited to look at all of them to chose one of them. I told him to “choose”... That it should be his right to do the selection. After-all, it was his idea and desire to be able to live with a dog. So I set on a chair of a side and watched. Right across from me in the cage was my Casey <3

I told him to take a look at her. She was the only medium sized dog. I remembered him telling me that he wants to select a “larger” dog.
And he looked at her. And he loved her too. We spend time with her in a room at first. Then we took her on a walk... We didn’t know what we are doing and the dog is constantly pulling on the leash... Yes she was stopping everytime you tell her to, but seconds later she was doing it again... So much at times she would be coughing because she is choking herself from that... We figured she can be rehabilitated. So nothing stop us. We were confident that all will be fine!

And it was her, who introduced me to my “The Love for YOUR Dog” feeling...

All weren’t just fine... We did great!

to be continued....
